Hairdressing Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning and Trade Test Expression of Interest

Hairdressing Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning and Trade Test Expression of Interest

Partner with Services SETA to Certify and Empower Hairdressing Professionals!

The Hairdressing Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning (ARPL) and Trade Test Programme is a transformative effort aimed at providing learners who completed the City & Guilds Hairdressing Programme with the opportunity to gain formal, accredited qualifications.

The programme acknowledges the dedication and skills of these learners while addressing the unique challenges they have faced.

As the City & Guilds Hairdressing qualification is not recognised for access to trade test in South Africa, as a result these learners have been unable to formalise their careers. The Services SETA is bridging this gap by partnering with accredited ARPL and Trade Test Centres to support these individuals in achieving certification that aligns with industry standards.

Why Partner with Us?

By participating in the programme, your centre will:

  • Empower learners to formalise their skills and unlock career opportunities.
  • Play a crucial role in transforming lives in the hairdressing sector.
  • Contribute to the growth and professionalisation of South Africa’s skills base.
  • Gain access to learners through Services SETA, which will actively assist in identifying and connecting eligible candidates to your centre.

How Will Learners Be Identified?

The Services SETA will support connecting learners to participating ARPL and Trade Test Centres. Through outreach campaigns and partnerships with previous training providers, we will ensure eligible learners are informed and guided to the appropriate centres. This collaborative effort ensures that your centre will have access to a pool of candidates.

What is ARPL?
